Práce srovnává 2 stejná období - tj. 9 měsíců roku 2000 a 9 měsíců roku 2001, kdy v roce 2000 nebylo použito přístroje na stanovení C reaktivního proteinu (CRP) přímo v ordinaci, zatímco v roce 2001 ano. Výsledky jednoznačně hovoří o tom, že použití CRP v diagnostice přináší významnou úsporu v nákladech na antibiotika (ATB), konkrétně 44 %, což znamená 56 017 Kč za 9 měsíců.
