Definice - Jako poruchu růstu označujeme tělesnou výšku dítěte pod 3. percentilem pro daný věk (tj. hodnocení z jednorázového měření) a/nebo růstovou rych­lost dítěte pod 25. percentilem pro daný věk (vypočítanou ze dvou přesných měření v odstupu alespoň 6 měsíců). Porucha růstu dítěte může být fyziologickou vývojovou variantou, ale často je prvním příznakem závažné zdravotní poruchy.
