Grym J, Kobliha J. Je infestace komenzálními amébami vždy skutečně asymptomatická? Pediatr. praxi. 2004;7(2):93-95.

Autoři na základě retrospektivního hodnocení souboru 68 dětí předkládají závěr, že infestace tzv. komenzálními amébami, zejména species Entamoeba coli a Endolimax nana, může u dětí způsobit zdravotní obtíže a příznaky v podobě bolestí břicha, řídkých stolic, meteorizmu, příznaků břišního dyskomfortu a -dyspepsie-. Nejvýraznější potíže, až do podoby koliky, pozorovali u novorozenců a malých kojenců a dále u dětí s porušenou integritou střevní sliznice. Je popsán dobrý efekt léčby metronidazolem i spontánní uzdravení. Autoři zdůrazňují potřebu dalších studií.
