Kdo to ví, odpoví?

Bez rozdílu toho, kde v současném systému zdravotní péče o děti působí generace čtyřiceti-/padesáti-/šedesátiletých pediatrů, byli asi všichni, včetně autora sdělení, již na počátku své profesní kariéry rozhodnuti věnovat se dětskému lékařství. Proč se rozhodli právě pro pediatrii? Odpovědí bychom zcela jistě zaznamenali mnoho. U někoho mohly sehrát určující vliv rodinné tradice, jiného zaujal při výuce pediatrie zanícený pedagog, rozhodování mohl pozitivně ovlivnit také přísný, současně však spravedlivý examinátor oboru, nezanedbatelné mohly být také osobní prožitky vlastního onemocnění v dětství a takto vzniklý intenzivnější kontakt s pediatrem/dětskou sestrou/nemocnicí. Byla pediatrie atraktivní a jasnou volbou třeba i proto, že centrem jejího zájmu je vývoj lidského jedince od nejranějších stadií a nabízí tak mnoho netušených, neznámých a neobjevených možností?
