This article deals with chronic tonsillitis, its symptoms, conservative and surgical treatment – tonsillectomy (TE). The indication is local and overall. Recurrent tonsillitis is the most frequent local indication in children – 75 % (according to the data obtained in past 25 years from evidence based medicine). Tonsilar hypertrophy with subsequent obstruction represents 25 %.
