Scoliosis - comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

doc.MUDr.Martin Repko, Ph.D.
Ortopedická klinika, FN Brno

Scoliotic deformity that progresses in child age is a serious spinal condition that affects in a complex manner not only the locomotor

system of the child but also, secondarily, his organ systems, particularly the cardiopulmonary system. A number of medical disciplines

are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of this deformity. The role of paediatricians in diagnosis, surveillance and conservative

treatment of scolioses is essential.

The aim of the paper is to summarize the definition, classification and examination methods for scolioses as well as to summarize modern

therapeutic procedures.
