Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections spread by sexual intercourse. Adolescents initiating sex early, experimenting sexually,
and neglecting their health are a risk group. The incidence of STDs has been increasing in the Czech Republic in recent years.
Some of these diseases are compulsorily notifiable. Until 2010, syphilis was the most commonly occurring of these diseases, followed
by gonorrhoea. Since 2011, there has been in increase in the rates of gonorrhoea infection that have even exceeded those of syphilis
infection. The article particularly deals with the compulsorily notifiable STDs.
