Adolescent age is a period when it is possible to continue mandatory, voluntary regular as well as recommended vaccination started

in earlier childhood. In case recommended childhood vaccination has not yet been administered, it can be initiated in a form of

a primary vaccination against several diseases. The cathegory stated by legislation as the „vaccination on request“ demands parental

agreement with direct payment, with possible partial reimbursement from a health insurance company. Adolescent age should

not be overlooked nor underestimated with respect to primary prevention of diseases by means of vaccination. Pediatric primary

care physicians should not focus only on those vaccines that are provided free of charge. Other vaccines may also play an important

part in the reduction of morbidity and mortality of child population and many parents are interested in this form of protection for

their children. It requires understandable information provided by pediatric GP and his/her personal unequivocal recommendation.
