In the past the terminology bonding wasn’t even known yet, however since a long time it has always been natural desire of women

to have closeby a newborn baby straight after birth giving. The aim of this thesis was to find out womens’ awareness of bonding.

2001 women participated this study (age 29,96 years ± 5,34 years), who have given birth in the recent three years. A questionnaire

was used as the method of data gathering. We found out that most of women were informed about bonding (48,43% sufficiently

and 41,88% partially). There was an evidence of unsufficient enlightenment. We have investigated statistically important effect of

age, achieved education, pregnancy planning to women awareness of bonding. Women awareness is increasing as well as their

immediate after birth giving bonding. The awareness of bonding support is necessery as well with the medical professionals

because their willingness is important in forming the conditions for bonding support after the child birth and their education in

this compliancie is important in order to provide mothers the reliable education concerning bonding.

Keywords: awareness, bonding support, immediate contact between mother and child after the child birth
