The possibilities of serological and molecular-biological microbiological examination methods, on the one hand, extend thespectrum of detected pathogens and significantly accelerate pathogen capture, but on the other hand, the interpretation of resultsis accompanied by a number of pitfalls. This article tries to describe the basic nature, possibilities and use of the mentionedmethods of detection, taking into account various pitfalls of interpretation.

The article deals with the problem of drug use in children and youth in the Slovak Republic, especially non-alcoholic drugs. Itpoints out to children’s and youth’s, pupils of primary and secondary schools, experimentation with drugs. Experimentation withor recreational use of drugs presents a significant risk of drug addiction. The article reveals official statistics by the National HealthInformation Centre. Acute idopathic scrotal edema is a rare benign cause of scrotal edema and erythema with typical sonographic findings. It is morecommon in the pediatric population than in adults. And it doesn’t require surgical exploration. Authors present a case report ofsix-year-old boy with a recurrence of this disease. Pneumonia is the seventh most common cause of hospitalization in the Czech Republic. The diagnosis is based on a thoroughhistory, physical examination, laboratory tests, and imaging. The article deals with the case of a four and a half year old femalepatient who had initially presented with symptoms of gastroenteritis and was hospitalized for streptococcal pneumonia.

The article presents another adapted clinical practice guideline (CPG) focused on provision and maintaining of thermoneutral environment in postnatal care of newborn babies, which was developed in a similar way (using the ADAPTE protocol) as the clinical practice guideline published in Pediatrie pro praxi (No. 4/2015, No. 1/2016, No. 4/2017, No. 2 and 5/2018, No. 2/2019). Breastfeeding brings many benefits to the child, mother, family and society at large. These are health, nutritional, immunological, developmental, psychological, social, economic and environmental benefits. If the mother cannot breast-feed her baby, there is a possibility of feeding with donated breast milk. For this purpose, human banks and breast milk collections were established all over the world, including the Czech Republic. Milk is provided by healthy mothers (donors) who have a surplus after breastfeeding their own baby. Neuroblastoma, a tumor of the sympathetic nervous system, is the most common extracranial solid tumor of childhood. Itaccounts for 15 percent of all cancers diagnosed in children less than five years of age. The clinical signs neuroblastoma area function of the location of the primary tumor or the sites of metastatic disease. Up to 65 percent of primary tumors arise inthe abdomen. We present a 5-year-old boy with abdominal pain after falling down the stairs, where ultrasound examinationled to the diagnosis of large right adrenal neuroblastoma.
