doc.MUDr.Pavel Kršek, Ph.D.
Klinika dětské neurologie UK 2. LF a FN Motol, Praha

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders. It is more frequent in children than in adults. Epileptic seizure could however

occur also in patients without epilepsy; it is one of the most common symptoms of neurological disorders. Clinical manifestations

of epileptic seizures are very diverse and their terminology and classification is often difficult. Moreover, it is necessary to distinguish

epileptic seizures from different non-epileptic events. The following text represents a short summary of this complex issue.

Keywords: epilepsy, seizures epileptic and non-epileptic, EEG, childhood, adolescence
