Breastfeeding brings many benefits to the child, mother, family and society at large. These are health, nutritional, immunological, developmental, psychological, social, economic and environmental benefits. If the mother cannot breast-feed her baby, there is a possibility of feeding with donated breast milk. For this purpose, human banks and breast milk collections were established all over the world, including the Czech Republic. Milk is provided by healthy mothers (donors) who have a surplus after breastfeeding their own baby. The donated human milk is most often used for premature newborn whose mothers do not have enough milk. This article presents the qualitative research results focused on the non-medical healthcare workers in human milk banks. The results showed thathuman milk banks provide the donation of donors, as well as the collection, examination, processing, storage, registration and distribution of human milk. Differences in individual facilities were recorded especially in the area of donor education, required donor examinations, financial evaluation, collection and distribution of donated breast milk.
