The F10.0 diagnosis: Where do we go from here?

MUDr. Josef Grym
Pediatrické oddělení nemocnice SZZ Krnov

The author draws attention to the increasing number of children hospitalized for acute alcohol intoxication and the increasing proportion of intoxicated girls. There has been an increase both in intentional alcohol use as a way of solving problems, particularly in adolescents with mental and social issues, and the inability to tackle these situations in the family. Case reports are used to highlight the problems associated with the management of intoxicated adolescents with aggressive behaviour who present a burden and risk for the operation of a paediatric department, with care of these conditions not being addressed adequately by legislation.
