Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is a rare disease characterized by impaired renal concentration ability. In addition to typical polyuria and polydipsia, a variety of gastrointestinal symptoms (anorexia, failure to thrive, vomiting and constipation) may be present in the clinical picture, which may predominate in the youngest age groups. Analysis of dietary habits and diet composition will help to direct the differential-diagnostic procedure, initiate adequate treatment and prevent possible fatal outcomes of the disease under stress conditions. The authors present case reports of two boys (8- and 15-month old) with predominant gastrointestinal symptomatology at the beginning of the disease.
