Water is the most plentiful constituent of the human body and is necessary for life. Total body water as a percentage of body weight varies with age and is high especially during the first 3 yrs of life. A part of rational nutrition in childhood is right water intake. Children need select drink solutions for optimal water intake. High water intake is necessary during sport activity and by very hot climate/sunny days. High body water loss and risk of dehydration are during acute diarrhea. In the therapy for uncomplicated dehydration is possible to use oral rehydration solutions.

This article deals with PUFA OMEGA-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are vital for a child’s development, a development of brain and retina. They have a good influence on functioning of the brain, process of learning and on memory, immune system, act in an anti-inflammatory way. It is important that they have a positive influence on cardiovascular system and metabolism. I mention conclusions of the clinical studies which monitor the action of PUFA OMEGA-3 on human organism. Haliborange are food supplements with fish oil, a high PUFA OMEGA-3 content and with vitamins A, D, E and C. Orange-flavoured syrup, little fish and chewy capsules are suitable...

The interaction between mucosal immune system of gut and gut microflora together with components of food is the key point for the development of individual immune reactivity. Gut microflora, so called microbiome is highly regulated microbial society which development is positively regulated by breast feeding. Deregulation of gut microbiome is followed by the failure of both mucosal and systemic immunity regulations leading to the development of immunopathology. Gut microbiome is positively modulated by prebiotics and probiotics. It is possible to influence positively the development of IgE mediated allergies by the administration of probiotics prenatally...

Vasoformative tissue tumors (heamangiomas) are frequent in children just after delivery. Quick tumor growth during the first 8–16 months of life is often changed (in 70–80 % of cases) by spontaneous continual involution. Prognosis is not always such favorable in haemangiomas of head and neck region. In these cases a causal therapy is necessary. In exact diagnostics, non invasive methods as ultrasonography, dopplerometry, CT or MR are used frequently. A strictly individual therapy requests a good collaboration of specialists in paediatry and other medical disciplines. In the case report the authors demonstrate the course and results of...
